Consistent Outgoing Temperature: Why is it Important for Your Shower

Hitting the showers at the start or the end of the day should be a no-brainer – you turn on the faucet, and out comes water at the right temperature. But, all of a sudden, you feel a dip in pressure or rise in temperature. Nothing ruins a comfortable shower experience more than having inconsistent water temperature or pressure.

When it comes to inconsistent water temperature, how uncommon is that? In fact, not that rare, especially with instant water heaters. It often happens when someone is using another water source at home, such as doing laundry or taking a shower. How does an instant water heater work?

For instant water heaters, the heating process is relatively simple. Water flows in from the inlet, then into the heating chamber where the water is being heated up, before exiting through the outlet. There are two main types of heating methods: static and dynamic.

Static heating

As the name implies, static heating means heating water with the same intensity. And that’s regardless of the temperature of incoming water, the rate of water pressure, or even how much water is in the heating chamber. When somebody else is using water in the house, the amount of water flowing into the instant water heater drops. And yet, this reduced amount of water will still be heated with the same intensity, rendering them to be hotter than usual. Majority of instant water heaters in the market choose static heating as it calls for fewer components and programming during production, resulting a more affordable appliance for customers.

Dynamic heating

As opposed to static heating, dynamic heating has a more flexible approach. To put it simply: dynamic heating means that heating will be adjusted automatically so that outgoing water remains consistently at the temperature that you set, regardless of incoming temperature or flow rate.

It’s not magic; it’s just the use of technology. Let us explain a little more. For example, you prefer to shower at 35°C, so you set your instant water heater at that temperature. With a smart sensor at the inlet that detects incoming flow rate and temperature, the heating chamber will add or decrease the temperature to ensure that the temperature of outgoing water remains consistently at 35°C. So, if water enters the instant water heater at 30°C, the instant water heater will add 5°C to the water to ensure that the outgoing temperature is at 35°C. However, if halfway through the shower, the temperature of incoming water increases to 32°C, or if the incoming flow rate decreases, the instant water heater will automatically adjust the heating intensity accordingly to ensure that the outgoing temperature still remains at 35°C.
